Gout is a build up of uric acid, it’s as you know extremely painful. your brothers doctor should have given him medicine to treat the gout and relieve pain, beyond medicine i know that elevation and removing all pressure from the aria helps with the pain. Once he starts on the meds the pain should be much better in two to three days.
