My husband suffers from gout in his foot and it seems like the medicine prescribed has made it worse, and taking tylenols can damage the liver which is where the problem stems from, so if there are any other sufferers that can lend advice I would appretiate it, Thanks in advance.

cherries lots of them. this is an age old remedy for gout. it helps with the pain and the swelling will go down after. fresh cherries of course and at the health food store…concentrated cherry juice…don’t go for those store brand some cherry juice added…there is not enough to do any good…

    Try Aleve. Elevate the extremity. Check with your doctor. There are different medications on the market for gout. My husband suffers from it as well. The doctor told him it can stem from too much salt in the diet as well as diets high in purines. I wish you the best of luck in finding a solution.

    I’ll second what Cheryl E. said about cherries–medical columnist Dr. Peter Gott frequently mentions cherries as a way to treat gout.

    I don’t know if it would work for gout, but I take an herb called Arnica for fibromyalgia pain. I also take 800 mg. of Aleve and a 1000-mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime for pain management. Maybe Aleve could at least help with your husband’s pain.
