My husband just discovered he’s got gout, and at 32, 180cm and 105kg he also needs to diet and loose weight. I was just about to convince him to go on the GI diet when we discovered he’s had a couple of gout attacks (and he does love his beer/wine and food in general).

Now i’ve been looking at the foods that you’re supposed to either have or avoid for gout and the ones in the GI diet, and they’re a bit contrary (not to mention different sources on gout some say asparagus, lentils, etc are ok som say they’re bad).

To be back to where he was before doing his knee in, he’d need to lose about 20k, i’m happy if he at least loses 10-15 for health reasons (plust gout at 32 is freaking me out!); what diet could take care of both?

Thanks

Gout is caused by rich foods, mostly meat. I had it for about a year. When I abstained eating all red meat, a cure insued. I eat some now but am more careful with a balanced diet!

Can Glucosamine Chondroitin cause a gout attack?
